How do circuit tags work?

Find out how to tag locations and appliances on your Basis Smart Panel

To access circuit tags, first ensure that your Basis Smart Panel firmware (viewable under Panel Details) is 2.6.3 or above, and your Basis Home App is 1.5 or above.

Circuit tags allow you to organize circuits in ways that are specific to your home. They help you easily identify circuits in the app and indicate which areas of your house they correlate to.

Tag types include:

  • Electrician tags which are added by your electrician, usually during the installation of your panel.

  • Location tags which are pre-defined areas of a house.

  • Appliance tags which are pre-defined home appliances.

  • Custom tags which are tags you create - the sky is the limit!

Adding tags

You can add tags in a circuit overview screen. Go to Control → Circuit and tap the pencil icon to edit tags.

Searching makes it easier for you to locate existing tags and reuse them across circuits if needed.

Custom tags

Custom tags have a tag icon next to it so you can easily differentiate them from pre-defined Location and Appliance tags.

Renaming custom tags

You can rename a custom tag by long-pressing the tag.

 Deleting custom tags

You can delete a custom tag you created by long-pressing the tag. Deleting a tag removes it from all circuits that use it.

Notes & current limitations:

  • Your tags are personal, and not shared with your electrician.

  • You don’t need to worry about tags impacting the panel in a physical way; they are mainly for your own use within the app. The tags you see in the e-ink of your panel are controlled by your electrician via the Trade app.

  • Tags are being updated in other views in the app, so you won’t see tags reflected in the Control screen yet.

  • You can also access Electrician Tags in Panel Overview → Panel details → Circuits
