How do I connect to a Basis Smart Panel using the Home App?

Whether you own or live in a home with a Basis Smart Panel, if you're using our Home app you'll need to know how to connect to it.

Before you start, make sure that your Basis Certified Electrician has properly set up and activated your panel. Additionally, ensure that you have downloaded the Basis Home App for either iOS or Android and created an account.

Upon your initial login, you'll encounter a button labeled "Start Setup." Selecting this will direct you to the screen for connecting and configuring your panel.

The app will prompt you to grant permission for it to access devices on your local network and Bluetooth; you'll need to allow both permissions for successful connectivity.

Following this, the app will guide you through a series of step-by-step instructions to connect to your panel. You'll begin by removing the front cover and pressing the activation button, which will enable your phone to establish a connection with the panel. Once your phone detects a panel, confirm that it is the correct one by comparing the serial number displayed in your app with the one located on the bottom of the black panel dashboard.

Next, you'll need to set up your home Wi-Fi network for the panel, enabling remote access through the app. Start by selecting your home network from the list, entering the password, and tapping 'Connect.'

Next, you'll specify whether you are the owner of the panel (the homeowner who purchased it and holds the warranty) or a user. This selection will determine your level of access, which can be adjusted later if needed.
